Update re The Cateran Yomp from Dr Cook
Last Saturday 1200 soldiers, Veterans and mad civilians set off walking at 6 am from Blairgowrie in the Cairngorms of Scotland . It was a very hot day which left many participants struggling to complete the 56 mile walk (yes, it was eventually 2 miles longer than advertised).
Thanks mainly to the amazing encouragement of check point staff, and the camaraderie of fellow walkers I managed to crawl over the finish line 22.5 hours later at 4.30 am, elated, exhausted but within the all important 24 hour time limit.
My thanks to the ABF ( Army Benevolent Fund ) for their remarkable organisation of the event - we had a slug of gin, a wee dram of whisky, even an ice cream at different points on the mountainous course. True Scottish hospitality but still one of the toughest challenges I have ever undertaken.
A huge thank you to all of you that have sponsored me to date. The sponsorship page remains open for another month.
